For August the CrossFit Solid Orange Athlete of the Month is Ryan Horvath! He a competitive Ice Hockey player in several leagues year round. He came to us in early 2017 to work on his conditioning and strength, to improve his play on the ice. Literally, he is here almost every morning for the 5AM class unless his job takes him out of town – and he’s the first one here, even before the doors open! He’ll always lend a helpful hand to everyone here. Also, he loves the camaraderie of the workouts and is very competitive!!
What is your occupation?
I am an accountant.
Tell us something people don’t know about you?
I coached Team Denmark at the World Championship of Lacrosse back in 2010.
What was your main reason for joining CFSO?
I wanted to get back to working out with other people there to push me because the competition pushes me even harder!
When did you start?
I started about a year and half ago, back when all the workout were still handwritten on the board!
How has your life changed now?
It has made me realize how much more energy I now have because I’m working out consistently.
Have a PR in mind for a certain lift?
Both 375 pound deadlift and 215 in Olympic Clean.
Your favorite workout?
I actually liked Alexander that we did on a Saturday as a partner workout! Loved that you were constantly working out! It was 5 Rounds of 31 Back Squats and 12 Power Cleans.
Cheesiest and most memorable warm-up we’ve done?
The dodgeball with the slam balls, worried ankle might be broken
What did you think after completing your first CrossFit competition?
That I loved that feeling of being completely exhausted and can’t wait for my next one! Think it would be fun to do a team one and specifically training for it
When you’re not CrossFitting, what do you like to do?
I’m playing hockey which I have been doing since before I could really walk.

Got to play hockey at Bridgestone Arena!
