Athlete of the Month: Liz Radigan

Our March Athlete of the month: Liz came to CrossFit Solid Orange back in 2017...right after she had just done a Tough Mudder Race.  Everyone loved her spirit right away and we are blessed to have her call CFSO a home!  Oh, and she invented one of the best workouts ever...the DOGWOD!!! 

 

What is your background?
I am originally from East Tennessee.  I went to MTSU, and after college I moved around a bit (Arequipa, Peru for 1 year included 😃).  I eventually moved back to Nashville to get closer to home with my job and have been here for the last 4 years.

 

 

What do you do for a living?

I currently am not working.  I was a manager for almost 5 years, and decided to take a break from corporate America.  

 

 

What was your main reason for coming to CFSO?

I was always intrigued with CrossFit, intrigued-- but intimidated.  After my boyfriend and I started talking about marriage, I decided I needed to do something different for getting wedding dress ready, so I went to my first class at CFSO.  I loved it from the first class!   

 

 

How do you view the person you are today compared to before you started?

I have always yo-yo'd with my health, exercise and food.  Today, I would say my commitment is stronger because CrossFit has become a part of me-- not just another routine.

 

 

What is your proudest CrossFit moment?

My proudest CrossFit moment was from this past Women's Powerlifting Competition.  I hit new records by large margins and LOVED it!

 

 

How many goals have you achieved so far - and what where they?

That's what I love about CrossFit, there are goals to reach every workout.  I have surpassed 200lbs on my deadlift, and I'm at 183 on my back squat, I've done RX'd level on several workouts and consider all of those to be my greatest CrossFit accomplishments.  

 

 

What type of movement do you like doing, and what one do you wish you could do?

I really like doing squats.  I wish I could do more gymnastic movements like pull ups and muscle ups.  

 

Your advice to someone anxious about trying CrossFit?  

JUST TRY IT!! It is the most supportive network of gym buddies you will ever find.  No one criticizes, everyone encourages and celebrates every success-- no matter how big or small! 

 

 

If a Workout was created in your honor, what difficult movement would have to be in it?

Thrusters and burpees! 🙌

 

Tell us something people don't know about you?

Most people don't know that I used to not like dogs (like obnoxiously couldn't stand them)-- this changed when I became a proud dog owner and I now take her everywhere I can! 😀 

 

 

Cheesiest and most memorable warm-up we've done?

Hmm, probably something on a holiday, those are always fun ones! I hate break-dancing lol.

 

 

Give us a suggestion for a "Question of the Day"

Favorite dive bar?  

 

 

Give us a good 'Dad' Joke.... 

Question: Why do elephants paint their toenails red?
Answer: So they can hide in cherry trees.
Question: Have you ever seen an elephant in a cherry tree? 
Answer: Works doesn't it?!
